2008 Man of the Year Candidate.... Josh Jackson!

Josh Jackson, co-owner and buyer for ABODE, is honored to be nominated for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Societies 2008 Man & Woman of the Year Campaign.  For the past 8 weeks, Josh Jackson has been fund-raising for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. 

Josh has first hand experience seeing a loved one fight a battle with cancer, and he's determined to bring exposure and funds to this cause...in hopes that one day a cure can be found.  Josh's first event - "Taste for a Cure" was a HUGE success and everyone had a wonderful time...including JC the Little boy of the Year.  He danced the night away and charmed everyone he met!   At his next event "That 70's Gig", everyone got their groove on and had a blast raising money for the L&L Society. 

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the worlds largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.  Offering a wide variety of programs and services in support of their mission: cure Leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.  The Society is a nonprofit organization that relies on the generosity of individuals and corporate contributions to advance its mission.  Candidates are raising funds in honor of the Little Boy and Little Girl of the Year J.C. Delamore and Vivian Slazar.   The efforts and commitments to finding cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma will bring help and hope to thousands of patients and their loved ones, right here in Kansas.

Introducing ABODE Office!!!

Okay, this really isn't an event...but it's definietly a HAPPENING. 

In answer to the growing needs of mid-sized business clientele, Brent Dorrah (that's him pictured below), General Manager of ABODE Home, has just launched ABODE Office a new showroom

 that highlights options available for clients who want their offices to convey a fresh, modern appeal. ABODE Office offers a new avenue of furnishings and décor options for the area’s business owners. 

“ABODE Office is for the small to mid-sized business that wants a very cool, trendy look,” says Brent Dorrah the driving force behind the new enterprise. “Our strength is offering something for those companies that want personality and unique options at a great value…things they can’t find at the big box stores”.

Located at Douglas and Mathewson, just behind ABODE Home at 1336 East Douglas, ABODE Office is a working showroom filled with unique options in desks, chairs, conference tables and more. Inside the showroom, clients can find just a sampling of the choices available to them. Clients can choose from the showroom selections or, with the aid of designer Brent Dorrah and the office design team, can browse from a wide array of customized options. “With our design service, we can customize furnishings to suit anyone’s needs,” says Dorrah. “Our choices are seemingly endless and include, for instance, customized fabrics and finishes, things someone might not normally be able to pick out.”  Offered free of charge to clients, ABODE Office’s design consultation team can provide answers to suit any budget either while in the showroom or with a visit to a client’s office.

Symphony Showhouse 2007 -   was a HUGE success! 

ABODE's design team was chosen to design the formal dining room in the 2007 Symphony Showhouse at 204 N. Roosevelt in College Hill.  The Wichita Symphony Showhouse is one of the major fund-raising events for the Wichita Symphony Orchestra. This is a very prestigious honor and only the very best designers and retail stores win bids.  The dining room showcased our new Martha Stewart collection.  

We not only designed the dining room from top to bottom, but also worked with a number of interior designers to provided furniture and accessories in the Morning Room, Hearth Room and Master Bath.   

Since the Showhouse opened on our 3rd Anniversay, we took the opportunity to combine our annual VIP Party with a private tour of the showhouse.  It was a wonderful evening!  

Fall Parade Of Homes
Karen (Abode's fearless marketing and web gal) was on the judging committee again this year.   She had a blast touring the models and saw some great designs and fabulous ideas in new construction.  If you're building a new home let ABODE help you design and furnish your rooms.  Call or stop by for more information. 

ABODE once again partnered with Goentzel Construction to participate in the Parade (don't worry, Karen didn't judge any Goentzel homes).  Last spring we won PICK OF THE PARADE for our home furnishings at 2554 Rosemont Ct. in The Hawthorne (127th & 21st).
