"Wow!" That's the reaction Shelly Rogers, designer for Goentzel Construction, counted on when she asked the team at ABODE Home to furnish the company's latest model home at 2554 Rosemont Ct. in The Hawthorne.
With its stone exterior, copper copula and wood panel entry door, this home exudes a stately, old world charm that could easily fit on any street in College Hill; but once you enter, you realize it offers something quite different...the perfect fusion of Traditional, Asian and Modern styling.
It took months of effort and teamwork to create this showplace that is worlds apart from the cookie cutter interiors and furnishings seen in most new construction.
When Shelly first approached the designers at ABODE, she requested furniture and accessories that could complement and enhance the dramatic features and show that a traditional home can meld perfectly with today's styles and furnishings.
The results exceeded all her expectations. The details of the home, the furnishings and the accessories work together to stimulate the senses with a kaleidoscope of color, shape and texture.
The dramatic curved staircase – with an art nook featuring a Budda statue – lets you know instantly you're entering a unique and exciting home.
Across from the amazing staircase is a receiving room furnished with Asian inspired slipper chairs and matching loveseat. The windows are framed in luxurious velvet curtains with a stenciled border that marries the styles while adding a touch of tradition.

From here you can see into the gourmet kitchen and eating area that gives prominence to one of Abode's signature pieces, a beautiful round table made from new and reclaimed wood.
When touring this home you may be tempted to stretch out in the hearth room with its beamed ceiling and welcoming stone wall and fireplace. The room is furnished with two oversized chairs and sofa that evoke a warm cozy feeling, while maintaining the clean lines found in the rest of the home.
Upstairs, in the loft, you'll find a quiet hideaway ideal for reading and relaxing. The room is furnished with comfortable chairs in well-appointed brown velvet with a dramatic hue and pattern on the silk back cushions. The punch of color is the perfect accent for this hidden “surprise” room located behind the bookcase.

| The Master Suite is another place designed to be a retreat. Awash in the calming colors and furnishings usually found only at a resort spa, this is a room made for relaxation. The distinctive bedroom group with its 3 tiered stacked dresser and canopy bed are accessorized with lamps that are as unique at they are illuminating.
Last but not least, we go downstairs.
With 9' ceilings and a wine grotto, this is not your ordinary basement. The room is furnished with a fantastic leather sectional and matching storage ottoman. It's just right for staying home with the family or entertaining a crew of friends. The game table, in the popular “gathering” height, features chairs that continue the them of curves found in many of the other furnishings and rugs.
From the initial design to the artwork on the walls, this model home is proof that you can mix and match styles and designs to create a look that will transport you out of the ordinary and into a true reflection of yourself and your family.
